Attention! Tee-to-Green Rules Issues Close Match play on April 12 surfaced a glaring problem with the application of handicap strokes using the USGA Match Play rules. When a foursome is composed of 4 real humans, there is little difference with our prior 'individual' handicapping rules. HOWEVER, since we have frequent absences and must rely on 'virtual' substitutes - a problem occurs. The 'virtual' substitute gets an unfair advantage by shooting well under his expected total score. This situation was noticed many times on April 12. So the committee has decided that the club will revert to the 'individual' application of handicap strokes as was done in the past. When you print the scorecards for April 19, you will see the change. The scorecards you turned in for April 12 are going to be recalculated by Sid using last year's handicapping method.
